Teamate comments
Today I commented on one of my group members postings in reference to the personalization of websites. We both agree that specific marketing strategies can increase the awareness of a specific product of service. A few examples are stated within our blogs. You can refer to this link at Website personalization
In Class Learning
Over the past several weeks, we have been discussing professor Browns website in reference to Barbaro. We have noticed that the amount of website hits have drastically increased since Barbaro was euthanized. However, On Friday I learned that an actual webpage hit differs from a page view. A page view refers to the actual opening of a URL, while a hit is the actual number of files served. We also discussed how some websites may be taken off due to violations of the website. For example, we saw how an article on ESPN was taken off because it went against the views of its sponsors.

Global Neighbourhoods-Required Blog post #2
I am commenting in regard to the Global Neighbourhoods in the required blog list. I feel that there is a lack of commenting towards this book particularly because the blogs are way too long. I attempted to read his comments, yet I felt bored. I don't know if he needs to condense his writing style or just not write as much at once, then maybe he would get more feedback. In regards to the leaving Las Vegas article, I feel that Las Vegas plays a major role in the Marketing world. As you walk down the strip, Marketing is the main catalyst that drives the city. The URL for this blog can be found at Global Neighbourhoods

Second Wikipedia Edit- College Athletics
I have just made my second edit to a wikipedia article. The artice I chose was College athletics and some of the modern controversey. I wrote about the title IX law that states, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." This has caused much controversy over the amount of scholarships available towards male athletics. Title IX forces collegiate programs to offer the same amount of scholarship money for both female and males. The link to the article is Title IX

In class discussion-3/5/07
On Monday March 5th, we listened to a presentation by Tobey about Marketing & Social media, and blogs as a marketing structure. We learned that consumer generated media has become one of the largest and most influential forms of media. A major question was if social media would eventually clash with marketing? As a consumer, I am eager to spread the word if I like a specific product or vice versa. Word of the mouth plays a tremendous role of whether a specific brand survives. In this day in age, marketers no longer control the perception of a product. Companies can manage their products, but they cannot control the message. Today, major companies are blogging. From non-profit organizations, to fortune 500 companies. These companies understand how to leverage themselves to succeed in the future.
